Stop and Check Before You Act
- Slow down if a message says you must act right away.
- Do not share passwords, one-time codes, or account numbers by phone, email, or text.
- Never pay a stranger with gift cards, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency.
- Do not click links in unexpected messages.
- Hang up and call back using a phone number you already trust.
- Ask a trusted person for help if you feel rushed or confused.

- Turn on automatic updates for phones, tablets, and computers.
- Use websites that begin with https when you sign in or pay online.
- Review bank and credit card statements often.
- Keep a list of official phone numbers for your bank, doctor, and phone carrier.
If Something Feels Wrong
Pause. Close the message. Do not send money. Contact the company or agency using the official phone number or website you already know.
- Save screenshots, emails, or texts if you think you may need to report the scam.
- Change your password if you clicked a suspicious link or entered account details.
- Call your bank or credit card company right away if money or card details were involved.
